I can't overstate how eyeopening this model comparison is.

If you have just little, basic knowledge about how transformer based LLMs work (GPT-2 level), this will give you an overview of missing pieces, techniques and tricks how modern LLM implementations work.

Highly recommended.

Buckingham Palace has announced that it is removing all remaining styles, titles and honours of Prince Andrew:

"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor."

He is also being evicted from his accommodation at Royal Lodge.

Correct action, but it should never have taken this long.

MiniMax M2 & Agent: Ingenious in Simplicity MiniMax M2 was released on Monday 27th October by MiniMax, a Chinese AI lab founded in December 2021. It's a very promising model. Their self-reported benchmark scores show it as โ€ฆ

MiniMax M2 is the new "most intelligent" open weights model (according to Artificial Analysis) - the MIT licensed weights are just 230GB and it appears comparable to Sonnet 4, while priced closer to Gemini 2.5 Flash. Notes here, including a new LLM plugin:

1930s Britain The 1930s are hugely underrated as a decade, says the historian. She tells us about the social and design revolutions that made the thirties much more than just a prelude to war

"Nobody in the thirties, apart from politicians, really knew, or wanted to know, until 1938, that there was going to be war."

A gorgeous gibbous Moon rests above a ridge line near Cerro Pachรณn, the home of four NOIRLab-operated telescopes including NSFโ€“DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory, jointly funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE/SC); Gemini South, one half of the International Gemini Observatory, supported in part by NSF; and the SOAR Telescope of Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, a Program of NSF NOIRLab.

The particular beauty of the Moon and its features are visible in this delightful image. The dark splotches of ancient, basaltic flats known as maria splatter across our satellite. These features formed when basalt moved from the lunar interior to fill basins on the surface during a time of active volcanism on the Moon. On the left side of the Moon, as seen from this perspective, are the two famous maria: Mare Tranquillitatis (immediately above center left) and Mare Serenitatis (center left). These maria, respectively, were the landing sites for the first and last human visits to the Moon.

On the upper left-hand edge of the Moon, the slopes and edges of the Moonโ€™s other distinct feature, craters, appear starkly against the dark blue sky. One of the most distinct lunar craters, the massive Tycho crater, is in the upper right quadrant of the Moon in this image, flipped almost 180 degrees compared to the view from the northern hemisphere. Craters on the Moon are younger than the maria, and Tycho crater is particularly young, as evident by its sharp appearance.

Zohran Mamdani is so scary because he is planting the idea that you can tax billionaires and use the money to help people instead of debating what services to cut to pay for tax cuts. Which is literally why the US government is currently shut down.

He is destroying decades of political messaging.
