I had TWO unavoidable social engagements the weekend before last and I am still reeling.

I have five cats. When somebody inevitably starts a fight and I can't reach them immediately, I throw a paperback on the floor between them, causing everybody to run away in different directions.

She just had a meal yesterday! She is such a stunning animal and so laid back (unless you are a roach). The lighting in this photo doesn't show much of the red on her abdomen.

Oh, and the giant pile of dirt to the left in this photo has some very nice decorations in it. They have all been completely buried in dirt by the tliltocatl vagans who cannot under any circumstances abide having nice things.

The costs of anti-vax shit really needs to be a bigger part of the conversation. Ask Kennedy about his plan to expand hospital capacity when his favorite diseases come back? What is the budget for it where will it come from? How are schools to prepare?

A terrible photo but the best picture I've taken in years! Taz, my largest psalmopoeus cambridgei tarantula (and my secret favorite spider) has been struggling to molt for 2 days. I didn't sleep well last night, restraining myself from going to view her and stressing her.

That's a great one to start with to be honest! In general they're pretty chill. Not a spider I would ever hold in my hand, mind you, but definitely a spider that is less likely to run off or panic

A light brown tarantula with dark brown striping on the carapace and a doppled pattern on the abdomen as seen from above. Her legs are fuzzy rather casually splayed out, indicating a more relaxed posture. Her abdomen is resting against the ground and she is just chilling.

A tawny brown tarantula as seen from the top. Her legs are all pulled tightly up and in, hiding her carapace. Some of her paws are tucked under her legs, giving her a curled in look. A curled up tarantula is a very ill or dying tarantula. This tarantula is fine and just likes to scare the humans around her when she is alarmed.

This is what an augacephalus ezendami tarantula looks like when she is relaxed and when she is feeling a bit scared. (These are sisters)

If you're new to African tarantulas, a fair number of species might give you a jump scare by looking curled up when they are alarmed or hiding!

What is your favorite silly thing?

Mine is the subreddit that collects all the posts by anxious owners who have uploaded photos of their cat's or dog's nipples, asking for advice on the "weird growth" on their beloved animals.

Oh yeah I am an old person and this is one of my oldest friends. He is decidedly not an adult but she definitely is!
