That's not my name

You probably know me for my bird illustrations and sewing stuff, and maybe dinner, but on this profile I'm just me, for the social side. There's a business me too, if you know where to look. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟPฤkehฤ | She/her/they | cat person

Yeah, I just found out the other day that R can't really hear them these days either, while they're busy driving me quietly bonkers.

Thatโ€™s a lot of sirens. Stay safe and sound everyone.

At least the cicadas have quietened for a bit?

When I was painting earlier, I was thinking to myself that my body has adapted well to only having one functioning lat dorsi muscle, but that I really could have used two of them right then as I twisted around under the shelves of my workbench.

My contralateral back muscles are so sore now. ๐Ÿ˜ซ

I remember my mum being unusually mad when the last Nat govt fiddled with the Cullen Fund because if theyโ€™d just kept up with the superannuation fund that was started back whenever it was that they had already paid into when they were younger, then there would be plenty of money for pensions.

My parents were on the dole, so for them it meant longer on a lower income, rather than him retiring onto the pension. My mum didnโ€™t become eligible until just before her 65th birthday, so they didnโ€™t get the full superannuation for ages.

And they did the transitional rollout with so little notice.

Weโ€™ve known this was coming, right, ever since our own parents got caught in the transition from 60 to 65? ๐Ÿ˜ž

Half and half juice and hot water is also nice. But itโ€™s a winter thing, not a summer thing.

Maybe think of it as powdered cordial?

Itโ€™s actually quite good hot. Used to drink it like that all the time as a teenager.

I think the trick is to find a balance where you get to do enough of the things that make you happy to be able to bear the other stuff, and have energy to make the other stuff better where you can.

I canโ€™t do much about whatโ€™s happening globally, but maybe I can make someone localโ€™s day better.

We mostly use the line or racks, but getting towels and sheets dry in a Wellington winter (or sometimes summer) is rather a mission without one.

Itโ€™s down in the garage so we donโ€™t use it more than necessary.

Psychedelic, but make it Elisabeth.

Inspired by the Sesame Street pinball song, but not at all like the Sesame Street pinball song.

Itโ€™s to complement the acid green in the kitchen. Even though you canโ€™t see them both at the same time.

The eventual plan is to design custom wallpapers for the bathroom and WC (both debeiged-staged to Te Apiti) featuring intertwining stripes in turquoise, navy, acid green and grey on white.

My problem now is that Iโ€™d already washed the next load and put it in the laundry basket for hanging out next. So now I canโ€™t collect the soaked clothes (mostly jeans, so really soaked) to put them back through another spin cycleโ€ฆ
I guess those towels are going down to the drier now.

I have spent the last 9 years debeiging my house. There is just the laundry to go. I think it will be Te Apiti white and Navy blue, with large white tiles.

They are both fantastic, and will go well with the walls and floor.

Hahโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t hear it until 8:45, by which time it was too late. It didnโ€™t register at 8 when the first alarm went off, so Iโ€™m not sure if it had started already or if I was just too deeply asleep.

Guess who was really organised and hung their washing out on the line last night?

Guess who also just got woken by steady rain on the roof?

Not I! R did suggest going to the movie on Saturday as part of our date, but I read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia and then I read a BBC film preview and decided I donโ€™t ever need to see some of the stuff that is supposedly in that film.

Yeah, it was still partially overcast, nice, but not too hot, when we headed to the pool at 2:30. It just kept getting hotter after that. Iโ€™m hoping I didnโ€™t burn while eating dinner at the market. (Had sunscreen on earlier, but had of course towelled off afterwards.)

Also, itโ€™s got really hot out, so the pavements will be scorching on the dogsโ€™ paws.

Itโ€™s been taking me an hour to get from Zealandia to home leaving at 4 (used to be about 25-35 minutes). Pretty much youโ€™re lucky to get beyond a crawl from a couple of km before the Ngauranga interchange until youโ€™re past Melling, and the Esplanade wonโ€™t be any better.

Basically I think we will be avoiding travelling through Lower Hutt between 7 - 10 am and 3:30 - 6:30 pm for the next 5 years (I hope the works on Ewen Bridge are much sooner. They should have done those before closing Block Rd.)

Chaos. Took us 50 minutes to get to the Dowse. No air con in my friendโ€™s car.

Council had the sprinklers going, so we hopped out of the car and ran under them!

Now home and running a cold bath and pretending itโ€™s a plunge pool. ๐Ÿ˜†

At the draping myself in my wet swimming towel so I donโ€™t get sunburnt in the car.

40 minutes so far from McKenzie Baths to Railway Rd. I feel like the Melling Traffic improvements might just be in an Agile sprint that should have been a waterfall. (Especially in this weather.)

Get the panels, let the kids get loans, use the savings on your power bill to make contributions towards repaying their loans?
