During a recent debate in Parliament I welcomed the change in ownership at Reading Football Club, and also the positive impact the new Football Governance Bill will have on responsible ownership of clubs across the country.

I’ve been campaigning for residents across Reading who had their water cut off last year to receive the compensation they deserve from Thames Water. Thanks to ITV for covering this important issue.

What an amazing win, particularly to win on penalties after everything they have been through.

Congratulations to the Lionesses they are an incredible team.

Good luck to the Lionesses in the Euros final.

They have shown real grit and determination to get to the final and I'm sure the Lionesses can do it.

Football Governance Act becomes law in historic moment for English football Historic Football Governance Act receives Royal Assent, establishing new Independent Football Regulator to safeguard the future of the national sport

I am delighted that the Football Governance Bill has received Royal Assent.

I hope the changes to the law in this Act of Parliament will help stop any other English club being put under threat by an irresponsible owner.

Residents have suffered appalling problems with sewage pollution, loss of water supplies and even subsidence.

I asked the Environment Secretary to update me on how a new regulator will help.

The Labour Government has committed the biggest investment to help people get back into work in a generation, alongside delivering the change the country desperately needs by creating more jobs, making work pay, and transforming skills.

I am campaigning for residents to receive compensation after water supplies were cut off in East Reading and Caversham in 2024, and I want to thank ITV for speaking to me about this important issue.

It was a pleasure to attend the Berkshire Electric Vehicle event on Friday and speak to some of the businesses about their amazing work to support the green transition.

The Government is working with the pensions industry to encourage more pensions savings investment in British businesses and infrastructure to help grow the economy.

I called for this to include investment in high streets and small businesses during a debate on the Pensions Bill.

It was a pleasure to meet environmental campaigners in Parliament.

Reading School is celebrating its 900th anniversary this year.

It was wonderful to join the celebrations with the Mayor of Reading, Cllr Alice Mpofu Coles and Head Teacher, Chris Evans.

Good to be able to help some of our hard working councillors at their street surgery in Broad Street on Saturday.

Abbey ward councillors Keren Rowland, David Stevens and Mohammed Ayub are working on a wide range of issues.

Good to raise awareness of issues affecting shop workers.

The shop workers' union, Usdaw, had a stall in Broad Street.

The Union is campaigning against violence towards shop workers and a range of other issues.

Good to attend the Reading headteachers' conference last week and to hear more about the vital work of local schools.

It was a real pleasure to spend Reading Armed Forces Day meeting with serving personnel, veterans and cadets to learn about their work, and thank them for their service and ongoing contribution to our community.
