Our kids are pretty much grown but I still have people in my phone as ‘Ken Sam’s Dad’ and ‘Emma Leon’s mum.’ We go to gigs and pubs having shared the horror of the soft play nearly 20 years ago.

I think this single podcast is as significant as Alexander Mackendrick’s On Directing, Sidney Lumet’s Making Movies or William Goldman’s Adventures In The Screen Trade. If you’re interested in filmmaking/writing it’s essential. And Sentimental Value is magnificent
John Boorman’s Excalibur - taken by my Arthurian legend obsessed brothers in law even though I was 11 and in the UK you needed to be over 14. For a while I thought it was the greatest film of all time.

Two most recent reads: Ioved the Carlo Levi, a memoir that feels like a novel, vivid characters and sense of time and place. Enjoyed The History of Sound too - don’t usually go for short stories but this was a gift. Written with elegance and economy which is quite the combination. #Booksky
