Great Big Green Week has begun!
Itβs the UKβs biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. We can all make small swaps, large swaps and swaps that change the system, to make our communities better.

England has had the second worst harvest on record. This is what erratic weather because of a heating climate does. We are genuinely walking into a calamity beyond comprehension. 40 years of ignored warnings. eciu.net/media/press-...

When someone dies or is injured on the cityβs roads, survivors and bereaved families are the ones most directly affected. However, it indirectly affects everyone within the city too. The total societal cost of killed and seriously injured casualties in the West Midlands for 2023 was Β£444 million. Road deaths and serious injuries in Birmingham during 2023 account for approximately Β£205 million of the regional costs (almost 50%). The costs are calculated annually based on estimated real costs for lost output, medical and ambulance, police, insurance and damage to property. Currently every fatality is estimated to cost Β£2.4 million, and when a person is seriously injured, Β£271,00015.
A new Birmingham City Council scrutiny report has highlighted the enormous financial burden of road harm, with road casualties costing around Β£205 million in Birmingham EVERY year.
The current status quo is not only unacceptable on a human level but also economically ruinous.
