Fancy salads are the best, and surprisingly cheap to replicate if you have access to decent grocery stores. I do one all the time that's balsamic, green apple, walnuts and feta with a little pickled red onion and maybe some grilled tofu on top. Takes ten minutes, delicious.

Behind on my reading, for obvious reasons, but in the last couple days I finished OUT by Natsuo Kirino and THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR by Anne Rivers Siddon. OUT is sticky and alienating and fascinating to grapple with; THND is a barn-burner. Off to a good start on my reading list for 2026.

i know i've been pretty quiet but here's the result of my January: a totally handmade, fully-functional marionette created for a local winter-themed puppet show. she's called the Winter Maw & she'll eat you alive, just like real winter

I showed my partner BEST IN SHOW for the first time last year, right around the same time we were watching The Studio. Truly one of the highlights of a nightmarish year, in no small part thanks to Catherine O'Hara's genius. RIP to one of the best to ever do it.

The way Catherine O'Hara sings the countermelody at the end of "God Loves a Terrier" in BEST IN SHOW is genuinely beautiful, which makes whole scene even more absurd. What a perfect comedic touch that stands out in a movie built entirely out of perfect comedic touches.

Fuck man, not Catherine O'Hara. She gave one of the finest comedic performances of recent memory in The Studio. Absolutely scene-stealing stuff. What a talent. This is so sad.
