The trial judge was entitled to conclude that the 9-12 month range proposed by the joint submission was wholly inadequate and contrary to the public interest. The appellant has an extensive criminal record – 36 convictions including convictions for harassment and uttering threats, theft of telecommunications, and assault with a weapon. Moreover, the appellant’s pre-sentence report indicated extensive domestic violence, substance abuse, and a continuing pattern of threatening and abusive behavior toward partners as well as individuals in the community. There was no evidence that the appellant had been treated for any of these issues.

Is this the same Daniel Myles of Hamilton who was convicted in 2016 of sending stolen intimate pictures of a woman to her son? About whom the court of appeal said what's in the screen cap below? Or is that a different guy with the same name?

one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

I've even done one where neighbours complained that including a daycare in a proposal in downtown Toronto would create too much noise (the terrifying sound of children at play).

The desperate need people have to encase their neighborhood in amber has never ceased to amaze me.

I've run public consultations for relatively expensive condo proposals where neighbours have complained they wouldn't be affordable enough, so opposed them.

I've also done so for inexpensive apartments where neighbours have opposed because they'd attract undesirable neighbours (i.e. poor people).

I'm torn because I think I like the name, I definitely love the secondary T logo and I'm not very keen on the primary logo.

The loss this week of 20 people from the TVO newsroom is terrible news for people in Ontario. Their work is invaluable.

I'm very glad that John remains - he's truly peerless on covering a number of critical issues - but I can't help but feel devastated for what we've all lost this week.
