Teen was busy doing GCSE English exam.
So Renfri had to tolerate the less fun one.
Teen goes faster. Much. Faster.

3 mares: Toledo (Appie), Tennessee (farm rescue), & Renfri (OTTB) who took some knocks along the way. Finding new life w/ our chronically ill & episodically disabled person & her "foal" Thing 2. (No, that horse flashing hooves is not us but our nemesis.)
Teen was busy doing GCSE English exam.
So Renfri had to tolerate the less fun one.
Teen goes faster. Much. Faster.
Person was FIIIIIIIINE.
Tennessee is just helping her improve her seat.
She should THANK her.
Honestly, humans. Embrace the teaching moments.

Tennessee has decided Renfriβs jumping saddle is fabulous.
Trying to keep my joints all in line is a challenge in this saddle but I am learning to cope.
Toledo just seems bored by these antics.
Tennessee, a dun mare rescued in late October, tackled up and ready to ride.
Toledo, an Appaloosa mare, chilling in a grassy practice ring while her best friend Tennessee works on bravery and managing anxiety.
Tennessee was brave. She agreed to be ridden without another human in sight. Just had Toledo in the next pen as a babysitter.
Her rider is very grateful Tennessee didnβt buck or spin her off.
2/
She has lost her top line, couldnβt trot straight, yet had zero bend, and lost all confidence in jumping.
So much physio and training has gone into her recovery.
Now jumping is her favourite activity aside from eating and hanging with her herd.
Appaloosa mare jumping over three stacked poles. There is a cardboard flower decorating one of the side stands holding the poles. Her rider is wearing competition whites and dark navy blue jacket.
Yesterday, Toledo had her 1st show & jumped 70 cm clean.
Amazing.
2 yrs ago she arrived stiff, sore, & out of alignment. Not enough muscle in the back end, 1 front shoulder significantly more developed than the other. Weak spot in her back due to being ridden in a poor fitting saddle.

You canβt see the video here but Tennessee the rescue horse took our person for a canter.
Person is delighted.
Her EDS and fibro etc make it hard to canter. Tennessee is the comfiest, comfy ride anyone could want. Person didnβt hurt at all.
Win!
Dune mare posing with purple bare back pad. She wears a halter and a bridle so if we need to grab her and redirect we can do so with out any pull to the mouth.
Ten decided she would be ridden without a saddle today. Seemed to enjoy it, very much.

Renfri is back to work for the first time since Mondayβs snake bite incident.
24.02.2024 08:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0While the area is sore, swollen, and not attractive looking - there is no damage to muscle or nerves.
She's going on antibiotics to prevent infection in the wound area and can go back to the herd and start being ridden again in 2 days.
Whew.
Good news doesn't usually come with the words "just a small snake bite" yet here we are.
Yesterday, the grooms woke up to find Ms Renfri with a swollen back leg. Theories were of injured ligament, muscle, or bone chip.
Nope. Apparently if you have to be bit by a snake, she picked a good one.
We going to rename Show jumping to slow jumping.
But person did it.
I (Toledo) even used my head to put her back in her seat when she almost fell.
Because a good horse takes care of their person.
Tis person.

(Renfri deserves sainthood after today.)
I was good.
(If you count βgoodβ meaning nobody got hurt, sure.)
I. Was. Good.
Toledo, an Appie mare, in a social media promo for ALotABlog with the text: Working from home means your four-legged friends become your co-workers. Our friend Tokyo died yesterday.
A rescue. When he first arrived he was angry.
But a little girl fell in love & he w/ her. He became The Little Engine that Could.
The little girl was generous, allowing him to teach many, such as our personβs foal.
Our hearts go out to his person and family.
White woman in blue shirt and black helmet looking at a dun mare. Only part of her face is visible as she is inspecting the phone on the off chance it is a carrot. It was not a carrot but Tennessee was given many, many carrots for being so brave. Heck, she gets carrots when she isnβt brave. Basically, she gets carrots for just being her.
We did another thing. I, Tennessee, rode in a ring with only a rider on my back. No person standing there to help if necessary. No other horses to help me feel brace.
I was brave. #RescueHorse
Dun mare tacked up and looking back for carrots. She was given many, many carrots.
A dark bay mare with bridle has her nose near Tennessee, a dun mare wearing a bridle and a halter.
Tennessee: I did my first βbig horseβ lesson. There were two other riders and their horses.
I was good.
Everyone said so.

Tennessee, a 10-12 year old rescue mare looks into the distance. Sheβs wearing a blue halter and a black bridle. She arrived incredibly green and anxious. Sheβs learning many things, including how to be part of a herd and how to move forward with a rider and not panic.
Riding school reopened today & I showed off my new skills.
My best day yet.
A rider I hadnβt seen in a month got on. I listened. My guardian only had to intervene once.
Everyone was so happy
Grooms said congratulations.
Little kids were asking when they get to ride me.
I was magnificent.
Fabulous.

Perky golden (dun) ears. Sheβs waiting for Toledo to join us for a ride. There was much delightful neighing when reunited. Despite being able to see each other for the entire 20 min they were βapartβ.
Tennessee let the human trim her mane for the first time.
She was very good.
Bonus pic of her perky ears.

But Tennessee was lonely.

If I go faster we get back to faster.
(No, thatβs not how this works.)
You were FINE. You getting better at wonky-fast-trot-canter-wonk-wonk-trottish.
(Not the point.)
It was adventure!
A tacked up dun mare that hadnβt had her fringe fixed yet (bangs) patiently explains her demands to the human.
Today, I, Tennessee maintained my desire for singing.
No singing?
I went backwards and shook head.
Will walk forward for singing.
Tis small demand.
Two grey horses, which confusingly means they look white, peering out of their stables. The one closest to the camera is tackled up with his reins twisted so he wonβt accidentally step on them.
Hello,
It is Pascal and Blue.
Toledo, Renfri, and Tennessee are hanging out with the herd today. They also get a day off after spa day.
But they wanted to wish you a happy Saturday.
