Such a shit show!! It will be a miracle if the budget isn't a big steaming pile of horse manure. What a wasted opportunity if so.

Yes of course! Good info though, I had no idea! Makes you think about dairy more generally....

Interesting! I didn't know that. But I'm not sure putting it in the bin is better (surely it just makes a mess and then leaks onto the road/pavement anyway??) And can such a tiny quantity really be compared to waste from industrial dairy?

Sorry, it's better to put it in the bin?? Surely the coffee would just leak, creating a horrible mess for the street team and mainly in the end being washed into the drain anyway? Am I now going to be fined if I tip out some coffee into my kitchen sink?? Or does that go somewhere else??

Graphic with the headline β€œLondon is the greatest city in the world” set against a bright view of the River Thames with the Shard, Tower Bridge and the city skyline.

The text celebrates what makes London special: regularly voted the number one city in the world, incredible diversity with over 300 languages spoken, world-class transport, world leader in finance tech and life sciences, best museums and galleries many free to visit, world-leading nightlife, food sport and music for every taste, host to the world’s best sporting events, home to seven Premier League clubs, globally-ranked universities, a city where you can be yourself and love who you love, and a place for everyone.

RFK Jr. says there aren't autistic poets. We asked an autistic poet. "I will challenge RFK Jr. to write a poem as good as me any day of the week."

"You can’t eradicate autism without eradicating autistic people. It’s genocidal rhetoric against us that’s justified by 'autism destroys families. It destroys children.' No, it doesn’t. It’s bias against autistic people."

Yes, the problem is men like Gregg Wallace – but it’s also those who should stop them and don’t | Gaby Hinsliff Agents, employers, board members all have a moral and legal duty to make people behave decently. If not now, when, asks Gaby Hinsliff

"Let’s just say Bronze’s story will probably resonate a lot more than Wallace’s with the many, many autistic people quietly exhausting themselves trying to decipher and comply with all the unspoken etiquette of office life."

Caring for stationery in hot weather, a brief guide:

- pop pencils in a jar of cool water to prevent wilting

- lie erasers somewhere dark, under a damp cloth

- vintage stamps will curl, pop into an envelope & under a book

- paperclips warping? Refrigerate.

- bury wax crayons, note location

I don't suppose he will expect any tourists or business people to ever visit the US again then (especially as he seems to read "deportation" to include "life imprisonment in a third country without trial".

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are running errands. Green turns to look at Blue, who is frowning with agitated frustration.
Blue: Aargh! I hate this! It's too loud, too bright, and there's too many people!

Somewhere in the distance, someone's baby is crying. Frowning, Blue turns to glare towards the noise.
Blue: ...And someone's crying baby, of couse.
Green: Can I try something?

Green pulls out a strange little device, which Blue studies with confusion.
Blue: What?
Green: This baby translator.
Blue: A what?

As both of the foxes study the contraption that Green is holding, it speaks up.
Translator: Wail decoded: It's too loud, too bright, and too crowded. I hate it.
Blue: Okay, that's fair.

Ask yourself: If you wanted to bring manufacturing to the US, would you reduce tariffs on smartphones and computers that are fully made abroad, or cut tariffs on the intermediate inputs used by American manufacturers?

Absolutely bonkers - anyone can look up the population stats and see the world's population has doubled in the 50 years I've been alive .... what is this mythical lack of people? Presumably they really just mean not enough *white* people. Why weren't they asked that question?

The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

NYT: As conservatives fought against cancel culture on college campuses, they developed a particular fondness for the First Amendment. It was un-American, they argued, to punish someone for exercising their right to speak freely.

Today, however, many of those same conservatives, now in power in state and federal government, are behind a growing crackdown on political expression at universities, in ways that try to sidestep the Constitution’s free-speech guarantees.
