A government official threatened punishment with no legal basis, with the clear intent of stifling political criticism. Media corporations instantly surrendered to the will of the ruling party.

We're in trouble.

Even if you loved Charlie Kirk, even if you disagree with Kimmel, even if you found his comments so offensive that you would have started a letter-writing campaign or boycott, please recognize how bad this is:

Kimmel didn't incite violence. He didn't commit slander. He criticized politicians and media figures.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened to revoke ABC affiliate stations' broadcast licenses, the biggest franchise owner announced that it wouldn't air Kimmel's show, and ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely.

And of course this is a giant conflict of interest for Trump, Elon, and anyone in their orbits with any crypto holdings. Even if the reserve is never actually created, advance knowledge of or influence on this kind of announcement is an opportunity for corruption.

This is a terrible idea.

Any crypto investment is, at best, highly speculative, one effective hack from becoming worthless.

At worst, the US government is stabilizing the shadowy financial systems that make ransomware and other international crimes profitable.
