Rogue DNA rings reveal earliest clues to deadly brain cancer’s growth In a new study, published today in Cancer Discovery, the eDyNAmiC team, led by Paul Mischel at Stanford University, and collaborator Charlie Swanton at the Crick, integrated genomic and imaging data f...

Research from the Cancer Grand Challenges eDNyamiC team found that rogue rings of DNA appear early in glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer.

Co-first author Imran Noorani explains how this work makes the case for early detection of these tumours.

@romanmars.bsky.social please do the Brannock device episode! Shoe sizes are so weird in general, and the Brannock is an amazing thing. It’d be brilliant to hear your take on it

Me: this is great, glad to see authors ripped off by AI getting their due.

Me after using the search tool: I am one of these ripped off authors.

Academics, it only takes a minute. Seven of my papers are in this and I had no idea.

I really dislike how science has started calling almost any fancy computational technique AI. πŸ§ͺ

The framing of this entire article makes it sound like a benevolent AI independently made these drugs.

That is *pure fantasy*.

Instead: a team of scientists made a machine learning model for a study.

Fun! I think it's subtle but informative. Thanks for trying it out! What is the rank based on btw, last year's table? (ie are we second)

Saturation gradient could work too if you want to include colour, but I rather like the monochromatic vibe you have going currently. And yeah, a key would help!

Interesting! Would it make sense to have an opacity gradient based on season (17/18 most transparent, 24/25 least) so you have a way to track progress over time? Currently the datapoints are interesting but it's difficult to tell if there are patterns/developments over time.

Yeah it’s wild. Also, some youtuber apparently came recently and ate TWENTY THREE pancakes. I can’t process that in my little mind

As a case in point, i just spent 20 mins looking for the alien chestburster i once stuck farage’s face on. Spent a full day making it as a motion tracking exercise. Lost to the winds of time.

So excited for this course - the first two episodes are already so so good at going into one of my main stumbling blocks with watching Unreal tuts: not really getting how Unreal expects me to *think*, and my Houdini mindset just wasn't porting across properly. Great work, @chriskopic.bsky.social!

You can always just claim Guy has the same etymology as Gijs(brecht) in Dutch. β€œRadiant and noble”. In an ill-dressed and ridiculous kind of way

Fair point! They are big and cumbersome beasts.. Just trying to troubleshoot whether the issue is with the pcie port or the card: Any other free ports you can pop it into?

Eugh that sucks, sorry.. Out of curiosity: if you stick your gpu into that pcie slot, is it recognised?

(Looked it up: this was to fix setups with pcie 4.0 mobo and pcie 4.0 gpu connected through a pcie 3.0 riser cable. See eg www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/s...)

If it’s properly seated etc.. could it be a pcie generation mismatch? If the card has a mismatch between what pcie generation it is vs your motherboard default, then you might have to manually set it correctly in the bios. This was a thing for GPUs a while back
