In the What We Do in the Shadows movie the vampire housemates draw each other when getting ready for a night out on the town so they can see how their outfits look because of that pesky mirror/reflection thing.

Grey nurses - did a dive with them at Manly's Oceanworld. The Big Three of whites, bulls and tigers scare me - I never feel comfy treading water in salt water! - but they fascinate me too. The nurses were big and impressive but not frightening and of course the experience was very much controlled.

I'm in Australia and I'm refreshing the screen! I don't even know where Tarrant County is! And if Fort Worth is there, all I know about it is that Steve Earle wrote a song called Fort Worth Blues for Townes van Zandt. Ooh, time to refresh again. Best of luck Tarrant County Texans.

Yeah I'd go along with that - if I could only live on one cuisine for the rest of my life I'd choose Eastern Med/Middle East. I also like Asian (Thai, Vietnamese) but Greece, Turkey, Lebanese etc is my favourite.

Here in Australia 'anti-ICE protest' is the no 1 trending. Don't know how long that's been the case.

What's the process to do this? Is it do-able? Watching from outside the US it looks like it should be done, or even just attempted to maybe shake these weak as piss leaders up. Their lack of fight at such a time, with so much 'ammunition' to hurl at MAGA/GOP, is a frustrating missed opportunity.

It'll be something like really overdone steaks with ketchup and fries. Nothing green. Ice cream for dessert - three scoops for you, one for everyone else.

It'll be just like Saki's excellent (and easily found online) short story 'The Reticence of Lady Anne'. I've kind of given the plot away but it's still worth a read.

I see others have chosen the wobbegong so I'll go for the Grey nurse shark - for decades unjustly blamed for attacks in Australia because they look like a 'dangerous shark' but aren't and perhaps because they have an easily remembered name.

I dunno - Josephine Tey's novel The Daughter of Time, where a bed-bound detective tries to solve a historical murder and chooses Richard and the princes, did make me wonder if he was unfairly labelled as the guilty party. But it was written decades ago so this new doco looks worth a watch

I love the 'Quick let's get out of here before those creatures kill Guy'. Just the assumption that it has to be Guy who'll die, not any of the others.

Myself and two other Australian friends went to the Carter Fold as part of a US road trip and since there were no nearby camping grounds Joe Carter let us pitch our tents on a nearby field. 'That's Carter Family land son' he told me, 'and you're welcome to stay there' Great memory of a great trip.

I grew up in an Australian country town and until I was about fifteen thought Chicken Maryland (battered chicken leg and thigh, battered banana and pineapple ring, bacon and chips) was an authentic Chinese dish.

I've been listening a lot to That's How Every Empire Falls, written by RB Morris and done well by him, John Prine and Marianne Faithfull:
But at night he tells his woman
"I know I hide behind the laws."
She says, "You're only taking orders."
That's how every empire falls
