Every single issue we see with ICE (lack of accountability, ability to grab whoever they want off the street etc) was all made possible by the precedent set by policies around policing in the US.

There is a root to all authoritarianism. And if it isn't stopped, it gets worse. Simple.

The president should be hounded by the press for his concentration camps in the same way that he is hounded for the Epstein scandal.

But we are not there as a country so far, with the press following what's popular instead of the other way around. So we have to keep pushing.

We have concentration camps in America and it still has not truly hit public consciousness or the level of discussion we see around other subjects.

This is how these things become normalized. We simply cannot let ourselves become desensitized, we *have* to keep pushing the discussion.

People have trouble interpreting this. Nobody’s saying Donald Trump or Pam Bondi are personally selecting Nazi iconography. They don’t read enough for that. The point is they hire and promote Nazis who ARE steeped in Nazi iconography, and they’re fine with it.

Americans are relearning the lesson we learned during the Gilded Age of the late 1890s, when robber barons ran the government and the economy for their own benefit: Oligarchy is incompatible with the common good.

I'm hopeful we'll respond with a new progressive movement.
