I suppose if I pointed out that this is outrageously ableist, you would say that kind of hatred doesn’t count?

Of the many examples of liberals absorbing the right-wing framing on cultural stuff, masking as eye roll–worthy virtue signaling rather than eminently sensible illness prevention and community care is one of the more absurd. β€œThey’re requiring masks for NO REASON.” Could the reason be: science? πŸ€”

Someone told me lately "Bluesky is just like Twitter." I argued that was untrue on the basis that last time I had a Twitter account most times I got a new follower their bio said "single & looking for fun" & here when I get a new follower it tends to say something like "professor of rare moths".

Why would you be vocally annoyed by it?

Can you imagine, requiring masks in healthcare settings? How positively untoward!

Oh, come on. It’s cold and flu season. COVID and RSV are up. That ought to be good enough, but maybe if you think about it, you could figure out some reasons why folks where you are especially don’t want to spread illness right now?

Yeah, that tracks.

If we do have the privilege to boycott or protest behemoths like Amazon, we’re also doing it on behalf of people who may not be able to in part because of the damage these companies have already wrought.

11.02.2026 11:12 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Everyone who can boycott definitely should! Unfortunately, in some places, other stores have been forced out already. So for some people their choices are Amazon or Walmart. Folks live in food deserts; have limited access to transportation; have disability-related barriers; have no child care, etc.

You would have preferred that people
shut the fuck up…about Gaza? It’s not somebody’s boring niche bugaboo. It’s a genocide. Also where does the notion that people talking about Harris and Gaza never said a peep about USAID come from? It simply isn’t true.

Bezos built Amazon with exactly that objective: to ensure people wouldn’t have a choice.

You keep saying you’re not taking it seriously, that this stuff doesn’t work on you, that you don’t care, but you’ll spend hours engaging and making comments about the left and calling people freaks and on and on. It makes your claims of self-possession seem a bit dubious.

Fortunately, the measles vaccine is about 97% effective at preventing illness! But 3% is not nothing, and breakthrough cases do happen and are happening now. It’s unbelievable how far we’re regressing here.

Not so. First, anti-vaxxers are not all MAGA. They’re a pretty diverse coalition politically. Second, anybody with a compromised immune system or who is allergic to the shot can’t get it and is susceptible to a fatal case. Third, young children are not MAGA. Their parents are.

We’re at the point where masking in *hospitals* is considered extreme.

Hospitals.
