Excited for this KRAS symposium at the NIH organized by Dr. Sarah Sheppard at the NIH. Should be a great meeting of heme/onc and vascular malformation clinicians and researchers.

The human BAF chromatin remodeler processes nucleosomes bound by pioneer transcription factors OCT4–SOX2 Weiss et al. structurally and functionally characterize the interplay between the human BAF chromatin remodeler and nucleosome-bound pioneer transcription factors, uncovering a highly dynamic remodeling process in which nucleosome-bound transcription factors bias the direction of BAF remodeling to regulate genome access.

Moderna says FDA refuses its application for new mRNA flu vaccine The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is refusing to consider Moderna’s application for a new flu vaccine made with mRNA technology.

It is absolutely outrageous that Moderna’s flu vaccine was met with a β€œrefusal-to-file” even after their approved their protocol with FDA and carried out the trial as agreed. This vaccine works better in older adults than the current flu vaccines.

$1.65M per day in DC alone. That’s approximately two NIH R01 Grant *years* burned per day. Ninety *five year* R01s projects burned in the last seven months with no end in sight.

Instead of lasting scientific advance we get….what?
Civil rights violations and authoritarian replacement of democracy.

I have encountered a little of this.

My brother historically has received more praise than I.

When I visit India it’s awkward for me.

The women talk in the kitchen about cooking while the men sit in the living room talking about global affairs.

There is no space to talk about me or science.

Representative Joaquin Castro of Texas said in a post on social media that he had picked up Liam and his father, Adrian Conejo Arias, from the Dilley detention center on Saturday night and escorted them to Minnesota on Sunday morning. He shared photos of the two on social media, including one showing Liam at the airport clutching what appeared to be a Pikachu toy and wearing a Pikachu backpack.

Mr. Castro was part of a delegation of Democratic lawmakers who visited Liam and his father at the detention center last week, where he said Liam’s father had reported that the child was β€œvery depressed” and hadn’t been eating well since they were detained earlier this month.

This is a remarkable @nytimes.com split screen:

A huge 3,526 word + photos profile on Sen Britt who "can't stop thinking about the boy ICE detained"

But Rep Jaoquin Castro- who actually got Liam Ramos out of detention & back home- gets no interview, no pix, just 116 words inside a story. WOW.

The chromatin remodeller CHD4 regulates transcription factor binding to both prevent activation of silent enhancers and maintain active regulatory elements CHD4 directly limits transcription factor binding to chromatin, which prevents activation of silent or cryptic enhancers but facilitates activity of active enhancers.

Final version of our paper now published.

Take homes:
CHD4/NuRD directly limits transcription factor residence times. At active enhancers this keeps them working efficiently. At inactive enhancers it prevents TFs from getting a foothold and causing activation. 1/n
