The Distillery is a fun little area with shops. When I'm there I often just stroll down Bloor street through the neighborhood called The Annex. The AGO was designed by Frank Gehry.

How was this Sbux not sustained by the high schoolers across the street? I am shocked.

Breaking my "don't post, only lurk" rule to share that Alien: Earth rocks. Also great use of Olyphant.

The L in Crisis With ridership lagging and a fiscal reckoning looming, the L is in trouble. Here’s why our train is worth saving.

So incredibly grim: "Of all the people I interviewed for this story — including CTA officials, politicians, and transit experts and advocates — roughly half admitted they no longer ride the L." -- www.chicagomag.com/chicago-maga...

The most Chicago thing happened to me last week - I was driving west on Irving Park from Lake Shore Drive and looked in my rearview mirror to see Jeff Tweedy driving a Subaru right behind me.

You so nicely sum up what I felt in my gut talking with her when I was a student at Uchicago. Everything felt a little unmoored from how people actually behave.

Sonic 3 was loud. But, it was also a great reminder that there was a reason Jim Carrey was the biggest comedian in the world for a little bit.

Having played and beaten pretty much all the modern From Software games, I can say with assurance, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is harder than all of them.

I don't have much of an answer, except that if we all did it at once, it would work better, but, uh, joint projects are not really in our wheelhouse at the moment.

Antisocial behavior is rampant, and the two best ways we have to fight it are laws (which, lol), and public shaming. But who wants to speak up about someone smoking on the train if that person might well punch/stab/shoot you? Or just doesn't GAF. Admonishment doesn't have any teeth anymore.

I've been thinking the last little while about shame. I think we have (rightfully) tried to combat feelings of shame about identity, but I also wonder if we've started to lose an important aspect of the social fabric: shame of your actions in public.

It is possible to (1) deplore how Columbia University's administration is reacting to the on-campus protests and (2) also think it is very bad that a bunch of ghoulish, antisemitic opportunists have taken it upon themselves to hang out just off-campus, harassing Jewish students and celebrating 10/7.
