I believe the good folks over at @flmfrkcentral.bsky.social noted that the Harry Potter HD-DVDs had supplements in SD while the Blu-rays had them in full HD. That difference was really big.

Capacity difference was also huge. A single layer HD-DVD topped out at 15GB capacity and 30GB if it was a dual layer; Blu starts at 25GB and maxes out at 50. Much better for bitrate, and HD-DVD's industry consortium also backed the VC-1 codec, which is less efficient than Blu's AVC.

this is great for two reasons

1, the obvious: brilliant deconstruction of how patriarchy tries to sell total emotional isolation as not just a side effect but a GOAL of doing masculinity correctly

2: the repeated mentions of Buffalo Wild Wings made me laugh so hard
