Fit for Purpose? How Todayโ€™s Commercial Digital Platforms Subvert Key Goals of Public Education Digital educational platforms have become ubiquitous in American classrooms, with tools like Google Workspace for Education, Kahoot!, Zearn, Khan Academy, and many others now structuring curriculum, i...

Say it often, say it loud:

"Overall, research has not supported the common-sense presumption that digital approaches to schooling are better than non-digital alternatives. At the broadest level, widespread computer use in education has been found to be associated with lower student achievement."

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.

Lots of room to develop projects, esp. around paleoceanography, ocean deoxygenation & foraminiferal ecology. Field, lab & computational angles all possible.

Please share with anyone who might be a good fit!

the fact that so many people frame autism as โ€œa problem that needs to be solvedโ€ is a constant reminder that being โ€œnot normalโ€ isnโ€™t acceptable to a large amount of the world. itโ€™s the same reason thereโ€™s a trans panic right now too. they think people are defective

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

โ€œIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.โ€

It costs a lot less to house people.

Though the manโ€™s killing had been filmed, a fact checker is obliged to seek comment from any party alleged to have committed a crime. I called the soldierโ€™s lawyer. He picked up from a cafรฉ, where I could hear trance music blasting in the background. The lawyer told me that while, yes, his client did shoot the man picking olives, and yes, the man did die, the Israeli military court found his client not guilty of murder because the man picking olives was a terrorist who was throwing stones. Even though the video did not show the Palestinian man throwing stones, the court said that he was, so he was. QED, his client did not murder anyone, and it would be slanderous for us to say so.

I don't want to give the lady making fun of Alabama and acting superior about it any more engagement than she deserves. But if you think your state that votes 53% D is full of compassionate brain geniuses and another state that votes 47% D is full of evil morons, you are extremely incorrect.
