Premier League ends partnership with LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall The Premier League is no longer working with LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall or taking part in its Rainbow Laces campaign.

Ah yes, job done. Football is clearly sufficiently inclusive for the powers that be

This, coupled with the FA's new approach to trans people, suggests football governing bodies are saying a big 'fuck you' to LGBT people

Absolutely fuck this

Make the case as to why they're wrong. Appeasement will only leader to more and more extreme views, driving people further into Farage's hands

Show some leadership ffs, dont just follow, it's pathetic

If the police decide to take a heavy handed approach, there is a real risk we'll see scenes of police fining, moving on or even arresting LGBT people in statistically the most LGBT ward in the country.

The way the council have sought to engage has been atrocious.

There are rumours that police will be instructed to fine people for gathering, drinking and partying on St James's Street, outside of specific venues. Yet this is where the LGBT venues people know and love exist, people will flock to the area and will end up in the street

Keep an eye on Brighton Pride this weekend, big chance of seeing some chaotic scenes.

The Labour council, on all their wisdom, have sought to move the official street party away from the main LGBT drag, St James's Street, leaving it open to all comers and, astonishingly, traffic.

This is, for want of a better phrase, a fucking disgraceful decision by a supposedly 'Progressive' government.

It is abundantly clear she doesn't hold the confidence of MPs or vulnerable minority groups. An appalling appointment.

The Tories essentially designed the policy to cause friction. The solution we should be calling for is for asylum seekers to be housed in local communities, for funding so their applications to be processed quickly and for those that take longer, to allow them to work. Nothing else will work.

If you shoved 100 English people into a hotel for a year, giving them Β£50 a week to live on & banned them from working, it would lead to crime & antisocial behaviour. Both because Β£50 a week would barely cover the food bill and just through sheer boredom.

27.07.2025 11:36 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Asylum seeker hotels are a terrible idea. Not only do they create a focal point for opposition, but shoving dozens of people, many traumatised, together in the same building & giving them a paltry Β£50 a week usually for over a year is only ever going to lead to crime & antisocial behaviour

This is exactly what our party needs to realise. We've been far too shy since the election, scared to upset potential voters

If Lib Dems dont vocally lead the fight against Reform's rhetoric nobody will, and voters will assume they must be right. We must not sleepwalk into a far right government

It's one thing suspending MPs for opposing bills that you insist on forcing through.

It's quite another to suspended MPs for opposing policies that you've since rowed back on, thereby admitting they were right.

This is good polling and highlights what I've long thought. When people talk about Rejoin having majority support now, they're referring to rejoining exactly as we were before, a scenario which doesn't exist.

There is no sustained support for a Rejoin that is currently realistic.

It's clear that Mary-Ann Stephenson would be an inappropriate & irresponsible appointment as EHRC Chair. She would certainly not have the confidence of trans people, the minority group under attack more than most

We expect appointments like this from the Tories. We should demand better from Labour

'Bash the French, stop the boats' approach from Ed Davey here is pretty grim. Not sure who signed off of that message or why.

Especially when his question on SEND, offering proposals to fix a major issue whilst pledging support in a collegiate manner if the approach is correct, was so strong.

Personally think the biggest error was the 'island of strangers' speech. That felt like the moment the feeling went from 'a bit incompetent, trying to make tough decisions early in their tenure' to proper nasty-party politics

Didnt attract anybody new but demotivated their base & pushed people away

The UK has a serious problem with partisan activists being treated as neutral 'academics', or appointed to powerful regulatory positions, without their existing partisan beliefs being declared

The Tories sought to further their divisive agenda in this way. Disgraceful that it continues under Labour

The issue is, the problems are already in the box and he goes over, tips it straight upside down, gets bits everywhere, loses a few parts, then frantically tries to pile it all haphazardly back into the box and hopes nobody noticed in the first place

Treating Reform as the threat means they can continue believing themselves to be the moral, pure and progressive alternative that they think they are.

Acknowledging the progressive threat means acknowledging that they aren't as pure or progressive as they think. They're not ready for that.
