As for homeschooling - it needs to be almost impossible for anyone to pull their kid out of school without unanimous support from a committee of education, psychiatric, family medicine & legal professionals. If the home environment is truly the only viable option, we need a way of determining that.

They actually did it in (I believe) Finland and it led to significantly better educational outcomes for the broader population. Educational inequality thrives because the wealthy are able to shield their children from ever encountering poverty; make it in everyone's interest for things to get better

Every available dollar and cent of public money should be going towards public education. Abolish charter & private schools, build many more public ones, hire much more faculty (with student loan forgiveness for all education workers) also make homeschooling much much more difficult
