The focus on 'quality' is a red herring. The real limiting factor is that the potential audience of paying subscribers is too small to build a sustainable business. This is why these ventures will remain passion projects, not scalable businesses.

A common misconception behind the attempts to create paywalled digital news & commentary in LK is that content quality was the limiting factor. I've been approached to invest in or contribute to such projects for over a decade, and I've always refused, believing the real problem lies elsewhere.
