Fascinating study. One thing I’ve said a lot is that in a post-skinnerian field we are finding cognitive complexity wherever we look in the animal kingdom and this study starts by saying that where sentience can’t be confidently stated it’s in cephalopod species that haven’t been studied much.

No son, they are not "magically delicious." The workers made them delicious. This is a slogan meant to mystify the social conditions of labor

I'm a broken record on this but we absolutely do not talk enough about the fact that ~20% of injected CO2 for EOR-CCUS can be microbially converted to methane. coupled with lax MVA regimes, EOR "storage" could easily produce a net increase in GHG emissions!

As my teacher Donella Meadows said, when systems science & wisdom traditions point the same way, when the analytical & the intuitive line up, pay attention. I'm grateful for all the systems teachers and all the contemplative teachers - may we heed them now in this critical moment for life on earth.

But I say unto you: no, get your request into the first line so I can see it in the preview without having to click anything.

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that
