"socialism is spreading." They want it to sound like a mind-virus just like they did with woke. They know very well that nothing scares magas more than new ideas. Actual diseases like polio? That's God's plan. Wanting equality, saving the Earth, etc? That's the work of the devil.

Sad to say I've seen people in their 20s repost that stuff. But yeah, good comparison though. It speaks to a complete lack of understanding how anything works.

This was always inevitable. Capitalism must constantly expand which means after a resource or market is tapped out it needs to create a new one to conquer. So now they are selling "disagreements." Next year they'll be selling "hope" and "dreams" and so on.

Probably A-maze-ing and Burgertime for the Texas instruments home computer. Though I think we got Nintendo right after that so maybe Castlevania 2/ Mario Bros and duck hunt.

I've read a YA novel in a few hours but a real adult novel or nonfiction, impossible, unless I want to have no memory of what I read. The deeper it gets the more I find my mind wandering and stopping to digest. The last novel I read I was doing like 30 pages a day.

What the actual fuck. Do they skip ahead like that when watching a movie too? Just amazing that people are so obsessed with the number of books they can read in a year that they're willing to essentially ruin the book in order to say they read it.

I'm really just astonished when I hear people say this. Given that you have work and all the other life stuff, are you telling me that on average you read an entire book in a few hours?

I was waiting for an explanation, thank you. I did a zoom with someone years ago and we noticed the images were reversed but words were not backwards (if I'm remembering correctly) and we could not figure out what was happening. Just flat out broke our brains.

Also college can be stressful if you have to work at the same time. While trying to have a social life. I know I couldn't hack it.

IG and tik tok are like hanging out with your friends, while reading a lengthy article is often boring or laborious. It's human nature especially for young people to take the easiest path. They don't yet value the benefits of hard work, especially not if "good enough" is within easy reach.

Republicans are less likely to believe in aliens because they think God made the universe just for humans, but more likely to believe in bigfoot because they also have all the conspiracy people. And less likely to believe in the other legends because they aren't "American."

The sad irony of this is that the scammers behind those fake Gaza accounts are likely also right wingers. That or just politically interested. But they definitely aren't "left wing scammers."

There has been so much fake AI shit and scam accounts on there for years now, no reason to even have any hope that it isn't just as bad with the maga influencers.

It's unfortunate, but there have always been a very significant swath of people who do believe that laws and other rules = morality. It's one of the many methods bad people use to get away with things. Set up rules that benefit them and then claim to only be following immutable laws.

I forgot about the weather one, yes I had heard that. Just looked through the bills she sponsored and most were horrible or just silly. That was my bad, my sympathy reflex is too strong. And she tried to impeach Biden like five times, lol.

I don't like her, but I just saw in an article she said she wrote up bills and Mike Johnson would never bring them to the floor. That the repubs were "so unserious" about getting anything done. And this I totally believe. Because they are there to actually help people, obviously.
