Three paper seed packets, each labeled with plant name and photo. Rudbeckia hirta (yellow flowers), Coreopsis leavenworthii (closeup of yellow flower), Vernonia gigantea (magenta flowers).

Native wildflower seeds arrived! I'll plant some now and some in early spring.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American peeps! North Florida is strongly resisting autumn this year, which gave me a sunny, 80-degree morning to take my paddleboard out on the river .
Gators seen = 0 ☹️
Birds seen = many, including those weird looking ducks

A pale brown cocoon attached to peeling white paint.

A spotted butterfly, still slightly crumpled, hangs onto the now empty and transparent cocoon.

I obsessively checked the cocoon on my back door for weeks, and was lucky enough to see the butterfly emerge! I guessed right that it was a gulf fritillary.
