Unfortunately neither wolverine or badger occur in that area. Maybe spotted skunk but it would still appear to have some white. Best guess would be maybe a young racoon or red fox, or some sort of escaped pet

Any thoughts on what caused the shift? I'm surprised as I'd normally anticipate sea temperatures to shift more slowly.

I think California has seen similar dichotomies. I suppose seeing stronger gradients between pressure systems is something to be expected with climate change?
