In general, I've found community folk knowledge (while if taken too seriously can be problematic) has more than just a kernel of truth to a lot of it, and I've known ppl with doctors who either overestimate their knowledge or straight up make shit up about HRT that doesn't have any basis. It's wild.

-(similarly) I know people whove had various chronic conditions either change or disappear entirely
-its still unclear if you even need to be on t-blockers once your t bottoms out; it seems to be suppressed by injections for most ppl, and even oral for many whose bodies don't process most of it out

-I know people who've shrunk or had hands or feet shrink, even if they're transitioning as adults
-my IBS, skin, and psychiatric profile completely changed with hrt; not in a "my brain got better" way, but a "my neurological differences changed and we still don't know why" way (ie: ADHD)

-Almost no idea on how age impacts transition
-we still don't know how skin changes work, even though we know there's differences in amount and formation of collagen that's responsible for M/F skin differences
-no idea on what "high" hormone levels look like or could mean, or if it changes with age

Like, just off the top of my head:
-we have no idea if sperm production rebounds if one with those parts ceases estradiol
-we barely have a vibe of how fertility works
-we only got our first real study on if progesterone works like last month, despite that being folk knowledge for literal decades

tbh, I'd say most people don't know *anything* about transition. Most doctors don't even have a solid grasp on what they do or don't know; many overestimate their actual knowledge. Some places even insist it has to be hyperspecialized, even though the majority of doctors everywhere Rx HRT to cis ppl

I dated someone who went on progesterone after 8yr on E, and doubled in breast size within a year.

Sorry if this take is undesired, but:
-genetics is a BIG component
-age seems to slow change moreso than be a hard limit; disappointment seems broadly possible as soon as you age beyond teen/puberty range
-I cannot stan progesterone harder for growth and mood
-3 years does slow, but depends on a lot

A diversity of perspectives is important and I do know people who feel she leans towards outrage more than she should. Meanwhile, the gun ban reporting was as watered down as it couldve been, which imo is far more concerning as far as actionable direct violence, whether th be stochastic or organized

I've talked down almost a dozen friends over the "trans terrorist" and gun ban shit. I blame my peers who refused to vote over I/P more than I blame ER's reporting

I can see where you're coming from, but also I weigh that against:

1) Schumer shot down Tammy's amendment to the defense appro. bill in Dec to strip the anti-trans provision; they will fuck us
2) House Dems voting for antitrans riders and R sentiment bills,
3) this process being ungodly complicated
