I have friends planning to move there this fall. But 1) I understand this to be a loosening, not a tightening, and 2) they're working with an Irish immigration attorney, so I shouldn't panic on their behalf until told otherwise.

You are damaging to my self-image! I had this belief that I was familiar with the vast majority of titles and authors active in the 60s and 70s, and you pop out enough books that don't sound familiar (even the author) to damage that. (NOT "have read", just familiar.)

3/ "Sapient" means notably wise. It's asking a lot. (Or, even less usefully, it means related to humans.)

2/ "Sentient" means able to sense things, so it clearly includes all mammals...but arguably it goes all the way down to plants, which respond to sun movement and such.

We need a word between "sentient" and "sapient".

For use in SF. "Human" is used in general English, but we need a word that isn't species-specific.

I would agree. It's a "C" type job, subject to the pressures and risks of operating at the top of the hierarchy, which takes special kinds of restraint and thought. (Maybe other reasons too.) ("C" as CEO, CFO, etc.)

Substantive bad reviews are a treasure trove! Generally, they are actual objections that real people had, and generally I can tell in moments if they're relevant to me or not. (Pointed out by a friend in a comment elsewhere, but seems worth propagating.)

Well, I couldn't turn at least as much because of healing abdominal incisions as because of bed constraints. They'd set me up half on one side with a pillow behind me to hold me, which helped just a little.
