I used to write about music in Terrorizer (UK) and Extreme Noise (Oz), but that was a long time ago. Now I guess I'm just an amateur opinion-haver. Metal, drone, minimalism, maximalism, bit of industrial, etc.

For many years I was a bit ashamed of how much I liked 'Sabotage', but since I eventually stopped caring about what other people think I'm and out and proud 'Sabotage'-lover. It's *brilliant*. The opening *rinsing* of 'Hole in the Sky'. Casually inventing thrash on 'Symptom'. Fucking *Supertzar*

Five skulls / radiation symbols / other transgressive imagery, no half marks, plus the option to use '666 fucking skulls' twice a year. A perfect system, easily generalisable to, for example, rating one's Toyota service.

They have been persuaded to adopt Net Promoter by a consultant, and the punishment for this is having to endlessly explain Net Promoter to people over and over again until the heat death of the universe.

In the early 90s I was getting off a tube carriage just as Bobby Gillespie was getting on. I said, 'Oh, Bobby Gillespie'. He nodded and said 'All right?'

Years ago I was sent a demo by a Scottish metal band called, er, The Crab, obsessed with crustaceans. 'Fabulous Crabulous' it was called. They'd really gone all in on the crab stuff. Awful, obviously, but if they'd put the effort spent on crab puns into learning to play they could've been great.

This thing has been lodged in my skull for nearly 30 years and still gets played at least every 6 months. Absolute belter of a record.

My commute was delayed today by a guy riding an actual penny farthing in full technical MAMIL lycra get-up. Peak Oxfordshire.

Oooh, fun challenge. Before I spent four days thinking about it, is there an answer that you already know of? Don't tell me it, of course.

Interview with Ihsahn and Samoth ’95 conducted by Bard Faust Stephen O’Malley gave me the honour of letting me speak in this excellent rag and I thought it would be interesting doing some β€œjournalistic piece or art” again. Anyway, I decided…

I will confess I was scratching my head a bit about who the Lord of Silence was. Was it an interchangeable pseudonym? A buddy unearthed this beauty which points the finger at Samoth: blackdeathmetalhistory.wordpress.com/2018/02/07/i...

There is a wonderful purity to being a music fan at 16, isn't there? Certainly based on my chosen four. "THIS is brilliant, THAT is awful; THIS GENRE is my *life*, THAT GENRE is irredeemable rubbish for deluded imbeciles" & so on.

We Must Know More
YouTube video by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum We Must Know More

Finally enjoying last year's Sleepytime Gorilla Museum album after giving up on ever finding a CD copy I can file next to the others. Love the way they include stuff like this amongst the impenetrable proggery. Like Stewart Lee, "we *can* write songs, we just choose not to". youtu.be/8I8T0xWjok4?...
