Elon Musk Fans Are Still Losing Ridiculous Amounts of Money to Crypto Scams

I FOIA'd the FTC for consumer complaints about crypto scammers who pretend to be Elon Musk.

People are cashing out their retirement accounts and losing ridiculous sums of money.

On March 27, 1981, 13 million Poles (effectively every adult worker in the country) failed to show up for work at 8 AM after union activists in Bydgoszcz were beaten. In the face of that kind of solidarity, the state could do little but sputter.

Anyway, thinking about Texas A&M.

Ozzy’s own gateau

Sir, Further to your obituary of Ozzy Osbourne (Jul 23), in 1975 I was pregnant and working as a waitress in the late-night coffee shop at the Holiday Inn, Swiss Cottage. Near closing time a group of four massively drunk men arrived, in high spirits, accompanied by a collie dog. They ordered four hamburgers for themselves and a steak for the dog. I fetched their orders (putting the plate on the floor for the collie). For pudding they had that 1970s favourite, black forest gateau. When I gave it to them, in unison they lifted up their plates and squashed the cake into each other’s faces, covering each other in cream and chocolate.

Quelling my nausea (I was pregnant after all), I asked why they did that. β€œBecause we’ve always wanted to,” they replied amiably. Gazing at them, I said that they must be musicians. They agreed, and said they were a band called Black Sabbath and had just signed a recording contract, and had been celebrating downstairs in the bar. I’ve loved them ever since, especially as they left a Β£5 tip, which in those days was huge.

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl, in which disabled activists discarded their mobility aids at the foot of the Capitol steps to climb them in support of passage of the Americans with Disabilities Ac. Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, 8, told reporters "I'll take all night if I have to!"

It doesn’t feel insane to think Trump’s tariff obsession is just a way to pump and dump the stock exchange for his buddies, right? Sell at current price, tank it with bad news, buy at the bottom, announce a resolution with whatever country, let it climb again, rinse and repeat?

The Great Michigan Pizza Funeral was the ceremonial disposal of 29,188 frozen cheese-and-mushroom pizzas in Ossineke, Michigan, on March 5, 1973.[1][2] The manufacturer, Ilario "Mario" Fabbrini,[3] had been ordered to recall the pizzas by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after initial tests suggested the presence of botulism-causing bacteria in a batch of canned mushrooms.
