Here’s a neat thing to look for a tomorrow’s Pride parade: all local law firms are marching together for the first time, not separately by firm. It’s to show scale & solidarity as Trump illegally targets law firms. Banner will say “Law Firms With Pride.” My wife helped organize & I’m proud of her.

I think about this a lot. We live in Lowry Hill, and the gravitational pull of “Southwest Minneapolis” (especially the problematic idea that kids should be sent southwest for school) has always irked me.

There are many reasons to miss the Triple Rock, but I am here to mourn the loss of an all-time great venue for Father’s Day brunch.

Perhaps the biggest winners are Republicans, who used their control of exactly half of the House to force the DFL to roll back one of their signature policies, health care for undocumented immigrants. They also blocked tax increases, including a tax on social media companies, and an expansion of the sales tax proposed by Walz. Democrats in the BlueSky bubble are not happy with Walz, House DFL leader Melissa Hortman and the DFL's concessions. But there are still 17 months until the next major election, and voters' memories are often short.

I wish I could tell you how much I hate this breezy political-reporter cynicism, where Republicans are taken straight-faced as “winners” for denying people health care, and Democrats who dissent from same are mocked for being in a “BlueSky bubble.” Do better, Minnesota Reformer.
