I’m there with you both. This year, they’ve tightened up on calls around the perimeter, moving screens in particular. That was a directive. I think Cheryl is saying it’s a choice to let players hook arms, go through backs, etc in the post.

Well it’s not really about comparing women’s physicality to men’s physicality. I don’t think that’s a helpful benchmark. But within the wnba on its own, the physically has allowed a bad basketball product. So that’s what i hope could be remedied with better instruction to refs.

I agree with what youre saying generally hut think the w has a duty to consider the kind of image they have created for women players specifically. And the image right now is cheap physical contact that undermines the quality of their sport.

Idk I feel like the wnba in particular allows a level of physicality that refs could be instructed to discourage. If they haven’t been done to do so, it does beg the question Cheryl asked-does the league want this image?
