I found them last year. My plan was normally open switch + a 100Wh 5V power bank with 3 output ports.

Headlight gets one, pulsing tail light another, and brake light a third. Pulsing light and brake light in parallel.

Then I'd use the normally open switch on a leg of the brake light. (1)

I'm pretty sure Sundance is somewhere where it doesn't get all that cold and the main hazards are rain and fog.

But of course, taking the show on the road might require something more elaborate.

My first thought here is magnet on the actuator, and a reed switch on the brake housing. Squeezing the brake lever opens the circuit. After the switch goes a small normally open relay. Heat shrink it all and run wire.

Opening the switch closes the relay. Relay fails and there is no brake light.
