I get the impression there is pressure being applied to senior members of our state and federal governments by a foreign government (or its proxies) that these politicians feel compelled to comply with.

We should know what these pressures are and why we (as a nation) are so susceptible to them.

When your sole objectives are to disrupt and destroy, almost every stupid, inept, nonsensical thing you do looks like a win. If democratic norms are replaced with chaos, elections go out the window with everything else. Through that lens, view everything Trump does as a means of staying in power.
