Iโve written this lengthy FT analysis overnight about the multiple multi-thousand pound Epstein payments to Mandelsonโs husband

Jeffrey Epstein sent ยฃ10,000 to Mandelsonโs husband, emails show
Epstein sent Reinaldo Avila da Silva payment in 2009
I'm not prone to exaggeration but this is probably the biggest scoop I've ever been involved in
Mandelson's partner took ยฃ10,000 from Epstein to pay for his osteopath course while Mandelson was de facto UK deputy prime minister, according to new files

They wouldn't if they knew the mayoral bielection costs.

The exceptional circumstance is Burnham wants a shot at becoming PM.

Although he was re-elected less than two years ago and imv thereโs no reason to think Reform wouldnโt have a shot at the mayoralty. GM voted to leave; several Labour councils cd be at risk to Reform over the next 2/3 years, even if it may be less obvious this May because none of them are all out.

Whatabout the cost of a mayoral bi election? And then the knock on cost of another bielection if a North West Labour MP replaced Burnham as Mayor? Millions for what?

It wouldn't just be Starmer. Others would throw their hat in. Streeting for sure.

His nickname when he was Health Minister was Bodybags Burnham.

If Burnham stood and won the Gorton seat there would be a bi election for Greater Manchester. What happens if a Manchester Labour MP then wants to stand and becomes Mayor? Yet another Manchester bielection for their Westminster seat. Costly and distracting. It was the right decision.

Nine years ago a Twitter user was sending poetry to Sadiq Khan about Londonโs many cultural identities. A decade on, Reform UKโs mayoral candidate doesnโt dispute it was her old account - so whatโs changed?
