My quest to become a librarian is progressing… to date I’ve completed the first half of the year one courses for the LIT program at SAIT through Open Studies, and I JUST finished on-boarding to be a support substitute Learning Commons Facilitator (School Librarian!) and Receptionist with RVS. 🎉

The one place I noticed the most physical difference? I can sing again without losing my breath or my throat closing up if I actually put myself into it. It’s been almost three years, pre-covid, since I’ve been able to really do that.

I turned a corner this past week. Nothing practically changed, but knowledge changed. My autonomy and value were affirmed. I felt less wary than I have in a few years…

Was NOT expecting Kpop Demon Hunters to be fantastic representation of therapy parts work AND make me cry, but here we are.

Right up there with Inside Out 1 & 2, and Turning Red for FANTASTIC movies about emotional health and understanding. AND SO FUN.

Recovery is not about handling sh*t perfectly. You won't, I won't. It's about being willing & able to course correct, again & again.

Don't get me wrong, we'll absolutely get better at handling stuff as we get further into recovery-- but the core of recovery is bouncing back.

The level of chaos to even start to implement these guidelines on the level of learning commons facilitators will be literally traumatic and heartbreaking. This will leave school libraries almost empty, and take the heart out of them and replace it with fear.

The level of absolute hypocrisy and idiocy here, especially when excluding certain books like the Bible for no reason other than they are protecting narrow ideology (and I say this as a Christian myself), is infuriating. 1/2

It's so important to support your local theatre, café, bookstore, bakery, and library. They are little corners of magic in a world full of chaos. Without them, a town loses a piece of its soul. Keeping them around not only saves them, but in many ways, also saves us.
