Preprint alert 🚨 Ever wondered what role fast #mitochondria trafficking plays in the simple cells we mostly use? In @julius-w.bsky.social et al. we use mitodynamics + simulations to identify the importance of outwards transport to distribute new material and keep network balance! Link below!

Biology must generate ideas as well as data Data should be a means to knowledge, not an end in themselves.

Also, an interesting article from Paul Nurse about the same point.

I recently read Byung-Chul Han’s The Crisis of Narration, whose reflections on contemporary society also resonate with modern science. The shortage of new, disruptive theories in biology may stem from the dominance of data-driven research—a provocative idea worth considering.

I love this display of the trade-off offered by short separation times.

Short separation times allow analyzing more samples per day (SPD) but sacrifice coverage.
