It feels a bit like the old saw about nonprofits: "if there's no salaries then the only currency is ego" or something like that. That's as close as I get anyway, as an ex-local chapter president of a national nonprofit, whose predecessor often reflexively pulled the "do you know who I am" card.

Also—and perhaps unsurprisingly—if anything will curtail my reply-guy impulse, it's being reply-guyed for some throwaway dumb post.

One thing about dumping Bluesky from your phone is that if you get even minor traction on a post during the night, you'll log in to way more notifications than usual, which can make you feel instantly, claustrophobically unsettled.

Attended my first little-league age travel-ball game of the year. I love when teams get creative with their names; today's contestants were "Showcase" vs. "The Fury". Showcase triumphed 8-1.

Oh and it was 83 dang degrees in Camarillo at the end of January.

Or rather I don't feel compelled to constantly advertise that *any more*, because at too many points in the past I certainly did. I deleted Facebook and Twitter to delete all that posturing more than any other "real" reason. Might eventually do that for Instagram too.

But the whole concept feels needlessly performative to me anyway. I just want to make sure I'm less intentionally harmful than I may have been in the past, but I don't feel compelled to constantly advertise that.

The list of musicians is even shorter. I was never a huge MJ fan but I don't dislike most of what he made pre-1991. Lennon is tougher because he seems to have wanted (and failed) to be a much better person than he actually was. After those guys, ditching, like, Arcade Fire is laughably easy.

I'm not sure I've had a difficult drop, but mine are less "ugh I hate them now, they're cancelled" and more "eh it's not something that I, personally, need or want in my life anymore."
