I think that people my age have a really odd relationship with tragedy because of 9/11. Everything about that time was so ridiculous and a lot of the things that followed were quite funny. But funny layered on top of a truly disastrous tragedy and it's nice how numbing that can be.

Thinking about when I was just out of high school, around 2009, hanging out with some friends. We were showing each other funny YT videos and someone put on footage of 9/11 set to Yakity Sax and at first we started laughing but then we all went quiet and the whole mood of the room was so strange
