OFC there were some people at the time who gave him credit. But it wasn't a widespread view. Labour's vote share in 2010 was our second worst since 1945, only 1983 is lower.

The SNP's grievance machine is running on fumes. The context here is Scotland has only ONE gas power station, which is getting carbon capture investment. No other power stations in Scotland can have carbon capture installed, as they don't produce any CO2.

I switched to an EV a couple of years ago. Its battery stores 65kWh if energy. Just for fun I worked out how much energy was in a tank of diesel in my old ICE - 500kWh!

Even with thermal power sources EVs are still more efficient. And most grids are rapidly moving away from thermal. And of course there are energy losses getting fossil fuels from well to tank, around 25% of the energy stored in the tank.
