I do think, similar to breach, the perceived best deck's overrepresentation at the top tables is in part due to the better players also being more in tune with the meta. There were 3.7 more izzet players in the top 32 than expected by day 2 metashare, which... is more than zero for sure, I suppose.

Those conversion %'s aren't each deck's conversion rate though, feels like a bit of a misleading graphic. Avg conversion rate is 24%

Essence scatter seems like an interesting one—looking at the difference between countering their 2-3 mana play vs saving it for their top end.

Quench variants are more common though, so that may be better. Many say quench is bad in slower decks, but countering top end for 2 mana sure is upside.

For example in FDN, if you expect esper to be overdrafted and deep and G/R to be underdrafted and shallow, wouldn't that wash out to "just take the best card and find the open lane"

Thank you for the response. Do you approach PT drafts assuming other teams are in the know, even early in the format? By the end of a format, archetype winrates converge to the center, so assuming everyone is drafting properly it seems that drafting with strong preferences may be limiting.

What are your short and long term magic-related goals, or otherwise?

If you personally had a PT to prep for in 6 months that your goal was to win, what steps would you take to improve from where you currently are?

How should we go about applying 17l data to our drafting in a high-level pod vs on arena? Especially earlier in a format when aggro tends to overperform, high-level pods will fasttrack meta shifts, so I wonder if there's a way to anticipate that or draw certain conclusions from what we have?
