The smaller house is getting replaced with a larger building whether I want that or not. My position is that when it gets replaced, someone should be able to put a quadplex in its place that would be the same size as the single family home that you can generally build by right

If you watch the response from the council member in the following comment, the building is getting torn down and replaced with a new large building either way. The only difference is if 1 family gets to live in there, or if several families get to live there

#A2Council One thing I inherently know but am always a little taken aback by is how NIMBY talking points are the same all over the country.

They want 23 people running this thing and they also want to hire 2 full time employees and 2 part time employees to work on this. Forget parks, how many public works projects to have this much administration?

Tom Wieder 21h · River Ridge Mark I think you miss the point. There was no promise to “fund the park,” (i.e. totally pay for it). They only said that private fundraising would be one of multiple sources of funding. The Yes folks are suggesting that the electorate was duped into voting for the park in 2018, because they relied on a promise to pay for it. But, even if a promise had been made, if you never heard such a promise, if you didn’t rely on such a promise, you can’t say that you were duped in voting a certain way. How many of the 27,000 people who voted for the proposal even heard what was said at the forum, yet alone relied on anything said there?

#A2Council I just don't think it's a very compelling argument to say that even if there was a promise that the library lot park would be privately funded, voters aren't civically engaged enough to know that happened

Would really love to hear from the council members that voted yes which specific neighborhoods they feel quadplexes aren't appropriate for and why they feel they shouldn't be built there

The "Don't become your parents" Progressive commercials are starting to upset me because they used to go after obvious bad old people things and now they're saying that watching a neighbor remove a tree from their property isn't a weekend plan. Brother, that's the Good Shit.

He says he wouldn't hazard a guess at what to ask for from the budget, but this is two and a half years after the Prop A vote; he should know what he needs to ask for!

The City-owned public land bounded by Fifth Avenue, and William, Division and Liberty Streets shall be retained in public ownership, in perpetuity, and developed as an urban central park and civic center commons known as the “Center of the City.” (Section 1.4 added by election of November 6, 2018)

Even a generic park bench or picnic table and umbrellas are expensive. Just adding a couple of these can easily cost over 10s of thousands of dollars, and just those things would make for a terrible park!
