Looking forward to learning all about how the right should move left to win elections tomorrow. They should maybe dye their hair pink, learn to love pronouns.

They don't seem to understand that most people don't want that and actually DO enjoy interacting with other humans.

Agreed. I would add that another aspact is that most of the "turbo-geniuses" are socially stunted and don't know how to interact with people. It seems like they're creating products like the metaverse and now AI which will enable them to live without having to interact with actual humans.

I think loud & ignorant are pretty much the hallmarks of our society at this point. Sadly I wish I were kidding...

Except they did go near it. 14 Dem senators (Klobuchar, Warren, Schumer, Baldwin, Booker, Coons, Duckworth, Durbin, Kaine, Reed,Sanders, Slotkin, Smith, and Van Hollen) sent a letter to Trump calling for him to immediately halt this plan.

Not just how. It’s who we have always been. We’ve had a few decades where that wasn’t us, but for most of our history we’ve been a nation of boorish, ignorant, self-righteous a-holes.

The past 8 months has laid bare how may of our institutions are critically broken. My take is that we haven’t had any real tests of our “values” in so long that all the institutional knowledge of how to actually enforce them is gone and nobody is left who can navigate any the current crises we face.

It’s not mystifying at all. The rest of the chain of command is either on board with it and/or they are so reflexively trained to obey authority that there isn’t even an option to question an order (much less actually disobey one).

Yep. Ben Franklin nailed it (referring to the constitution): “…and believe further, that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government.”

Do not give the Gestapo a moment's peace. Do not let them believe for a second they will ever be respected, trusted, or seen as anything but invaders.

Even if lower court judges rule that this is wrong and penalize the attorneys, the SC will overturn it. Even when the supreme court ruled against the Trump admin., they openly defied the ruling with no repurcussions. What we thought we were as a country is over.

There won't be any accountability. Our entire system was built on the premise that only 1 (or maybe 2) branches of gov't would be corrupt. But we have the executive, half of the legislative, and the supreme court all being corrupt. There's no mechanism for accountability. TLDR: we're screwed.

Yeah my comment was poorly worded. My main gripe is with the drumbeat of how AI is going to change everything, make jobs obsolete, etc. There are a lot of areas it makes incremental improvements, but I don't think the results match the rhetoric (not from you, just in general).

I think the thing I struggle with most re: AI are the proclamations about how it's going to revolutionize society. I just don't see it. This is a nice tool you built with AI, but would something like this revolutionize anyone's day/life/job?

I use outlook tasks as my to-do list, and they turn red when overdue. To me, the prompts and metrics in your product are overcomplicated and would make it much harder for me to stay on track. I know, this is a tool specifically for you, and it is cool that AI could build this for you.

01.07.2025 20:55 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I may be wrong (likely), but this strikes me as a very niche use case. I believe you when you say this tool works for you, but I struggle to see how this is more than a fancy to-do list.

Can you give a concrete, actual real world example? I see many people making similar claims about how AI is doing so many amazing things, yet I see almost no real world examples that are actually solving a problem. To me, so far AI is like crypto and blockchain: a solution in search of a problem.

Posited: most of the SV types were pieces of shit already but they had to pretend not to be for California/West Coast social circles and now have thrown off those shackles. And further resent having ever had restraints on their behavior at all.
