The Patriot (2000) Ending scene / New home
YouTube video by Pennyworth The Patriot (2000) Ending scene / New home

You know, using The Patriot to exclude new Americans is interesting when the not so subtle ending to the film was an open society that would not be based on blood and soil, or slavery.

I do not have a subscription, but I whole agree from the preview to the post here.

I also think that many are not understanding (or perhaps valuing), that vulnerability needs a human response, and a peer response. Outsourcing mental health services to a bot is not the humanity we jdeserve and need.

Sam, just say you wanted nudies. We didn't need two paragraphs about mental health struggles.

Yesterday I received three(!) emails from Pearson trying to sell me AI ed tech that they marketed as explicitly "safe for students." They know this stuff is dangerous and are desperate to head off the criticisms.

Maybe you’re like me: you like the feel of a physical book, but other times you just want the comfort of your ebook reader. Then other times still, you want to hear the book.

These are books that are inexpensive, available in multiple formats, and are good reads. Buy multiple copies!

Christian philanthropy and mission work is well-known. And yet there is still such a disconnect in the laity doing this in their daily lives.

I love when religious leaders really hone in on tangible ways to help their fellow man.

At first I was heartened to see that the number of youth suicides decreased in North Dakota from a recent high in 2023.

Then I saw it was 2025 (still going on), and the number increased by 3 since the data was last pulled.

For all the whining about "luddites" rejecting A.I. there's still tech that makes sense. Even if this doesn't work perfectly, it's an obviously good idea that takes a GOOD sci-fi premise (the universal translator/babelfish) and tries to make it a reality.

The problem is that baby CEOs learn what to do by modelling and copying the behaviour of older CEOs.

Elon Musk has been making outlandish and overhyped statements about space that don’t materialise for a decade plus, and now he’s the world’s richest man, so that’s what his younger peers do now…

They have created a technology that isn't capable of doing what they want it to do (to functionally destroy humanity), and then have gone to the tired, hubristic folly of trying to play god with humanity and eliminate the "undesirables" to prevent AI from doing what it can't

Dunning-Kruger effect.

Everybody knows Mary Shelley invented modern science fiction with FRANKENSTEIN.

But did you know that, exactly 200 years ago, she was writing one of the first dystopian novels, THE LAST MAN, about a plague outbreak in the 21st century?

Now you do!
