My dad, a theater professor, was adamant that you go to college not to get a specific job (with perhaps some exceptions) but to learn how to learn. Hence there’s me with a BA in Medieval Studies, an MA focused on medieval & Renaissance lit, and a 25 year career in software.

Another instance where the answer is simply that white people as a whole do not want to do the necessary work to unlearn specific and abusive aspects of their culture because they are more afraid of alienation and being called a [insert appropriate slur here]-lover.

I live in Minneapolis suburbs. There were also smaller protests all over the metro. I went to one of the smaller ones at a busy intersection with my 85 year old mom and hundreds of people. So many people joyfully honked and gave thumbs up as they went by.
