I was spoiled by the Career modes in HCTP. Having each year and career carry over all the stuff that happened before was a masterstroke. Having all my custom characters fighting over titles was amazing.

I bought and downloaded 2K24, then bailed when I realised there was no real Career mode like the old THQ/Yuke's games. I honestly don't understand how WWE games appeal without a career mode.

Well in the case above, I believe the defendant was able to use his position working for Jagex to take players gold and transfer it to his own account. So it's very much outside of any gameplay.

Eve Online is a spaceship MMO that has a lot of emphasis on the player-driven economy and various heists between player corporations. It's not uncommon to hear of heists that are years in the making that steal hundreds of thousands in real money equivalent.

The article makes it pretty clear that there's an official way to convert RuneScape gold into real currency. Ergo, that seems to be the clinching reason why the gold has value - it has value because it's able to be converted to real money easily and officially.

As I'm reading this, that wouldn't apply. The ruling only seemed to apply because the gold was able to be officially used to buy Bonds, which could then be sold for real world money. There's a clear line where the gold can be converted into real money.
