That makes me think of that ancient joke about Ita and several super heroes ending with the line "You're Thor, I can hardly pith"

10.02.2025 03:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was pretty not OK when I woke up this morning, having come home at 3am and slept past pain meds time, and in a position it took many painful manoeuvres to get out of. Had to get a friend over to sit me up!!
But all drugged up and much better now π
Oh yes, let's...how lovely! And how very global that you would be my first real life encounter with a friend from social media π
09.02.2025 16:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have to squeeze in a friend in Kent, ancestry in Orkney, former exchange student in Annecy Fr, possible hop over to Sweden for another friend, but mostly relaxing (I hope) with my son
& extended fam in Amsterdam and Vught. All very nebulous date-wise at this point, but we are *all working on it π
Hey Margaret, all being well I will be hitting your neck of the woods this year in July/August! Wheeeee!π€
09.02.2025 12:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My cousin was near her due date with twin boys (planned caesarian) and came down with strep throat. Begged for antibiotics for the babies. She survived, one twin did not. Was the subject of a very protected legal battle.
09.02.2025 12:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Funny you should say that.
I'm in emergency with a seized back.
And if you use it to commute it can send you down streets you never knew existed π

08.02.2025 11:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Absolutely! Won't happen in my lifetime unfortunately.
08.02.2025 11:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hmmm. Flemington "pivoting" away from horse racing finally?
08.02.2025 11:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And I love fried cheese!
08.02.2025 08:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Made from girders according to the advertising lol. Looks like rusty water, so it's definitely possible π€’
08.02.2025 08:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not quite that Scottish apparently. And I loathe Irn Bru!

I blame Cadbury's, it's not the same as it used to be π
As for the tinned fish...I guess I need more calcium π€·
He'd have my vote!
08.02.2025 08:12 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0My daughter often says she wished she were just dumb enough not to be horrified by everything around her.
08.02.2025 08:07 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0I've recently returned to my small country town after caring for family in Melbourne. My most used phrase (although I'll admit not ALWAYS out loud) the past couple of months is "where did you hear THAT bullshit?"
08.02.2025 08:04 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've never liked it (sorry Amyπ) and I think scab fits perfectly. And using the word scab may even remind people of the importance of being unionised!
08.02.2025 05:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's taken a while, especially since his wife died, to convince him "independence" isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be, but he's so much less anxious now he's moved, and is enjoying the company (probably more so than his hermit daughter would π)
08.02.2025 05:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Following that train of thought.. they do kind of think of them if there's a buck to be made in exploiting their needs. I'm so, so lucky I've been able to move Dad up near my country home, into a community run nursing home. Under the close scrutiny of a country community things are very different!
08.02.2025 05:07 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0That's only if they bother to think of them at all!
08.02.2025 04:56 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Totally smokin'!
Actually a woman, & only barely apologetic when I made it clear I wasn't one of her usual elderly residents, who were brought up to "respect authority" & often embarrassed to even ask for help, pitifully grateful for the little they received. It almost became my FT job advocating!
Nope, it really isn't. At the time I'd just transitioned from cleaning top end tourist accommodation around here (most sold off during lockdowns) to cleaning for a few local NDIS clients. It was much better money so I made sure I earned every penny, but I saw that not everyone was as diligent π€¨
08.02.2025 04:45 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My Dad's "local" council representative (cheers, Jeff Kennett π€¬) had the cheek to tell me the then newly elected Labor Fed Gov had "withdrawn" funding, rather than that they were opting out of providing the service a year early.
08.02.2025 04:38 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Wow, wow, wow, Rick! So much of the almost daily struggles I went through last year trying to sort the shitshambles of getting Dad's meals delivered now make horrible sense. If "Future Fit" was the brainfart behind the order forms that a 19yo coder would struggle with, no wonder they went tits up!
