Who likes authoritarianism, and how do they want to change their government? The share of the public that supports authoritarian systems ranges from 85% in India to 8% in Sweden.

40% of South Koreans surveyed in 2023 said that rule by a strong leader or the military would be a good way of governing their country. Support for authoritarian government was higher among those on the ideological right.

Public opinion across 33 countries on views of Donald Trump's tariffs (2019)

FROM THE ARCHIVES (2019): Views of Trump's first term tariffs were not positive in ANY country surveyed (33 of them).

This included 79% of Canadians & 85% of Mexicans who disapproved of the U.S. increasing tariffs or fees on imported goods from other countries.

Shortly after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, half of Americans, including equal shares of Rs and Ds, saw the action as a major threat to U.S. interests.

Today, just three-in-ten Americans say this and there is a large partisan divide (42% D vs. 19% R).
