I think a lot about the chance we had at the start of COVID to finally become a more compassionate, collectivist nation, and how profoundly we were failed not only by the sociopathic greed of the ruling class but by each other.

It doesn’t mean we won’t get there, but the lost opportunity haunts me.

Oh to clarify further, podiatrist was like "I don't think it's gout" lmao so I'm just like, okay, fuck? Then what's going on? (It felt like the middle metatarsals in my foot were broken for ~2 days; plus swelling and redness... couldn't walk / bear weight on it).

The uric acid blood results, whenever they come, prob will create more questions than answers for me (bc I have 2 things going on). He bzzt'd a tuning fork against my foot bones in a few areas & asked ab pain & after doing that said he needs me to get x ray. Like. Whatttt is happening. :(

I was so ready to just get the biopsy (it also came with the promise of fully removing x cauterizing the angry / sensitive / recurring wound area, which is desirable), hate putting it off, but I already have a standing balance w the clinic and yeah, what's one more week in the grand scheme I guess?

truly longest silence ever in an exam room... he looks out window, back at my foot, big sigh, looks up at me, "do you have a history of skin cancer?" Followed by saying it's rare but twice he's had patience with similar issue and similar complexion x light eyes and it was cancer.

...the lead-up to this was like... the way TV doctors are / the way we WANT doctors to be - he was sitting holding my foot, considering this ongoing issue that I've been seeing him across a year, that precedes him... really REALLY long silence (while it was just, bleeding for no good reason!)...

He wanted to biopsy and send me for an x ray today and I asked how urgent are we talking bc my insurance doesn't kick in until the 1st and he was like "ok, get the x ray on the weekend and see me next Monday for the biopsy"

I carved this wk out to be a chill one bc I'm nearly over hours for the month w this contract job. Mapped a perfect-on-paper day of a little work, a little school. I was only able to work & panic? Something's up w my foot in 2 ways. On one, primary suggested gout; other, podiatrist suggested cancer.

(Youngest child of youngest child on that side meant that I had cousins by that uncle who were just about same age as my mom)

Oh wait I forgot one more marriage uncle! He worked for the MTA, not exactly sure in what capacity though. By the time I had like, memory of him he was already retired and just hanging out chillin.

It would surprise me 0% to find they were in cahoots in electrician uncle’s petty theft era

…the bio uncle had architect background and did some construction stuff in the 80s and 90s but he was ALSO a little too familiar and friendly with the 🔫 uncle across the tree who ran cover as an electrician (this would be my dad’s brother x my mom’s sister’s husband) sooo I dunno!

1 bio uncle; he is like ??? dunno what he was/is about, but statistically, low optimism! Marriage uncles: one 💀🔪’d my aunt. Another 💀 himself. Another was petty theft & 💀🔫 a biz owner upstate & died in Attica. Another, a limo driver in NYC in the 80s - pics w Corky fr Life Goes On, Olsen Twins etc

Oh and HALLOUMI and Impossible bratwurst…. Hmmmm maybe something with all that and Harissa and / or tomatoes bc have a million tomatoes rn

This worked out. Friday I made one, Saturday I made another. Maybe I’ve got a third round in me / in my fridge. Something with cabbage and carrots maybe? Hm. Oh I’ve got Brussels that need to be used, too.
