05.11.2025 21:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0errr, Badlands is a lovers-on-the-run film and Days of Heaven is a period romance, neither of them plot-wise scream 'Western' to me.
IDK, i don't really care but when I watched Train Dreams I took absolutely nothing 'Malickian' from it. Jesse James a bit, sure.
As far as I'm aware, Malick has never made a Western?
Also, 'people get swallowed up by time' isn't a particularly Malickian trait.
Malick does investigate nature and man's impact on it, for sure. But that's a bit vague for all the direct comparisons. Train Dreams is too kitsch to be Malick.
I really don't get the Malick comparisons with this movie... because it's got some lush cinematography and a voiceover?
